Latest Miniatures

Hi Everyone

I has been a while since I last posted, been really busy.  I have been making miniatures ready to open my Etsy shop.  So look out for a give away in the next few days.  Though I still made time to make some pieces for my own dolls house, which I have included below.

The first is a Pansy Orchid, that I made using a kit from Georgie Steeds of Miniature Garden Centre.

I wanted to have a go at Pixie's Dust Miniatures Pumpkin Tutorial that was in Dolls House World Magazine but using Cold Porcelaine instead of Fimo.   He was great fun to make and I am really pleased how he turned out.

The fireplace scene is one I created to use when taking pictures of my miniatures.  The fireplace was a cheap one I purchased and painted black.  I used buffing gold to accent the designs on it.  I used mount board for the construction of the scene.  The wall I am really pleased with, as I used polyafilla, which I then painted.  Though I will have to turn the yellow down the wall as it is really strong.  Though in the pictures is looks really mallow.
Look out in  a few days for a giveaway.
See you

What I have been up to

Hi Everyone

Well I have broke one of my new resoloutions to blog more. Have no idea where the time has gone, but it is nearly Easter.

So what I have been doing with my time since I last blog.  Well to start with I have extended and improved my working area in in my bedroom.  It is great to get organised.  I have been modge podging containers to use in my working area.  I post some pictures later on once I have finished orgainising the area.

I have spent time creating some plants for an a friend, which has taken me longer than I thought.  I have finally finished these and will some pictures.

I went on a Needle felting workshop with Eve O'Neill of Fforestfelt.  Eve ceates the most amazing birds out of felt.  I had so much fun on the workshop where I created the nest below.  I also create a cat for my doll house.  It is my first attempt at a dolls house animal and I was really pleased with him.  I plan to make some more cats and improve on my first one.  Will post some more pictures at a later point.  I have done needle felting in the past but the workshop really inspired me to get my roving and needles out again.

I created this needle felted pincushion to store my felting needles in on my desk.  I have been wanting to have a go at a pincushion in a cup for a while now.  I bought this papier mache gift box at Christmas to modge podge as a gift.  I started to paint it but change my mind and put it aside to use at another time.  So I thought I would turn it into a pincushion.  So here is the end product.  The tree has a wire base.  My mum wants me to make her one.

If you would like to have a go at one of these pincushion then check out the following tutorials;

I purcharsed this book from Amazon, which has some great felt animals in it.  I have been planning to add some chickens and pigs to my tudor house as a small farm yard.  So when I saw the pigs on the front cover of this book, I thought that I would have a go at them for the my dolls house.

Happy New Year to everyone

Hi Everyone

Another year gone and a new one just started.

I decided this year not to make the usual new year resolutions  - like losing weight, etc.  But three resolutions that I am going to make are

  • To create more Miniatures..
  • To open my Etsy shop.  I am hoping to open it Sept/Oct time, if not earlier.  So I am busy making items to put in there. Will post some pictures shortly, so hope to hear what everyone thinks of them.
  • To Blog more
I have been working on project for my Tudor house.  I have finished off the painting for the bedroom and bathroom, and just need to clean the beams off.  Not decided on the colour for the dining room, but have decided to decorate the Great hall in a Art and Craft inspired decor.  After seeing Wightwick Manor on the TV.

I am creating a new fireplace wall with a servants door leading to the kitchen.  I wanted to change the fireplace for a while, as I feel it does not suit the interior I would like.   Will post some pictures of the fireplace wall in the next few days.

I like this verse that is on a fireplace at Wightwick Manor.  May use this on my fireplace or another verse.

Here are some mini's that I have done recently.

The Mirror was my first attempt of using cold porcelain and buffing wax.  I was quite pleased with the result.  For the next mirror, I am do a layer of darker leaves first, so that there is more depth to it. Also the shape is not quite right for the place I was making it for.

The peonies, were my first attempts to get the flowers right.  Still working on it.  I added them to a jug of Lavender.

I was lucky enough to get Petite Properties 1/48th scale "Blackberry Farm" for Christmas from my Mum & Dad.  I have lots of ideas for the outside, I want to have a horse in the stable and chicken's in the yard.  I also would like to add a Sheppard's hut to the garden.  For the inside I am not sure.  Probably be a mix of shabby chic and any other style I like.

This is my 2nd 1/48th scale house.  But unfortunately I had a slight accident with my first one and warped the wood, I think I used too much glue with the clay.  I am using the fireplaces that I created in the house.

I have painted the window flames and doors, but this is all I have done for now.
